Ok Parent's Let's Break It Down
Written by Ana Bogdanovic

Phase ONE Teething Begins

Infants will begin to teeth, or grow brand new teeth, as early as three months. It’s typical for the front teeth to appear before canines or molars. This is in order to provide the infant with a method of breaking food down.
Start by cleaning your baby’s teeth when they appear (6 months), by using a  cloth or soft baby toothbrush and warm water.  At about 18 months start using a pea sized amount of toothpaste after brushing, but do not use an oral rinse. I would suggest you use only organic products, and fluoride free toothpaste.

YES, I said it Fluoride Free

Furthermore, fluoride causes cancer, brittle bones, dental fluorosis (white spots on the teeth), and neurological impairment. If a child swallows more than a pea-size amount of fluoride toothpaste, the product label advises calling the poison control center.

But the main concern for me is the fluoride blocks the pineal gland.

States: The pineal gland is an endocrine gland whose main function is the biosynthesis and secretion of melatonin, a hormone responsible for regulating circadian rhythms, e.g., the sleep/wake cycle. Due to its exceptionally high vascularization and its location outside the blood–brain barrier, the pineal gland may accumulate significant amounts of calcium and fluoride, making it the most fluoride-saturated organ of the human body. Both the calcification and accumulation of fluoride may result in melatonin deficiency.

Phase TWO Teething Ends

Toddlers should have a full set of teeth by the age of three. If this is not the case, they need to see a paediatrician or dentist. The completed growth of baby teeth is important because it sets how their adult teeth will grow. If there are issues with the baby teeth, like overlapping or an over/under bite, be sure to see a dentist.

Phase THREE Loosing Baby Teeth

Children will start to lose their baby teeth around age six. They will continue to lose teeth and grow their adult teeth for the next few years. This is the opportune time for the tooth fairy to appear!

Fairy Origins

The idea of a fairy who quietly swaps a child’s tooth for money or a small gift overnight isn’t a very old one, but there have been traditions associated with children losing their first tooth since the time of the Vikings, when the teeth were often buried to ensure a happy life for the child or considered good luck in battle. These days, many cultures have the Tooth Fairy or a Tooth Mouse, but exactly how the tradition operates varies from household to household.

Fun Tooth Fairy Ideas

Fairy Dust: Sprinkle a coating of glitter over the Tooth Fairy money to make it seem like it’s covered in magical fairy dust!

Tooth Fairy note: Leave a signed note from the Tooth Fairy to let your child know they’re doing a great job on their oral hygiene and encourage them to keep it up!

Phase FOUR Braces

Usually, all the baby teeth are lost by the time a child is at the pre-teen stage of 12. This is an excellent time to consider braces if there are any spacing issues with your child’s teeth. Since their bodies will continue to grow and develop as a young adult, braces will help “set” their teeth to be aligned and straight. Newly attained adult teeth of a pre-teen are more easily set straight by braces than when the child grows to adulthood.

Keep up with the blog, I'll be talking about traditional braces v.s. the new Invisilign.

Phase FIVE Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom teeth will grow naturally after the rest of the adult teeth, around ages 18 to 24.

To Pull or Not to Pull

All your life you’ve been cautioned to take care of your teeth. Brush, floss, rinse, repeat.

Morning and night, you’ve taken care of your pearly whites. And suddenly, we’re talking about taking teeth out.

If you have enough room for the teeth to fully come in and you can clean them, you should probably keep them. Most people opt for early removal to reduce complications and keep dental problems from occurring.

Don’t get too excited though. Most people will need to have their wisdom teeth removed.

Let's talk GUM. The benefits of chewing gum, types of gum, origin of gum.  Everything gum.

Until then, thanks for reading keep smiling, and hopefully this article gave you a bit of insite of the oral milestones your child will be going through.
